Personally, I think Biden is never the orator we would ideally want, but his speech impediment has a lot to do with that. It seems America has forgotten that rather large part of his life and history, that he has addressed directly and thoughtfully in the past. Yes, Biden is old. That also plays a factor. Trump is old too though! Not as many people want to talk about that. Trump bragged and bragged about how fit he is physically and cognitively and we are just supposed to believe it … Anyway. I am not delusional enough to think that this was a great performance from the President. I do wish he seemed more energetic and on top of his game. I wish he hadn’t used anti-abortion rhetoric or made false statements about military deaths. I am sure his campaign behind the scenes was panicking. I think this is more indicative of this country though, and what we think is important.

This is outrageous, of course, and I say that as someone who grew up in a Southern Baptist Church. I never saw women in leadership at my church unless they were singing in the choir. Even opponents of this ban have leaned into the argument that it’s “unnecessary” because there are already so many steps in place to keep churches from having women pastors and to remove the ones who do. Arizona’s Supreme Court recently ruled that an 1860s law banning abortion is enforceable. This law essentially says that abortion providers can be punished with two to five years in prison. It also bans abortions in almost every circumstance except for the life of the mother. (Although we are forever seeing how dangerously vague that definition is.) This made Arizona one of the strictest states on this issue in the entire country. But, there may be hope!

A recent audit revealed that NO fraud or malfeasance occurred under the school’s leadership. In actuality, the school has been criminally underfunded for decades. According to the Biden-Harris administration, TSU has been underfunded by about $2 billion, the largest amount of any HBCU. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said in a statement, “Unacceptable funding inequities have forced many of our nation’s distinguished historically Black colleges and universities to operate with inadequate resources and delay critical investments in everything from campus infrastructure to research and development to student support services.”

I remember avoiding center city Charlotte at all costs, mostly because I didn’t want to encounter MAGA people. It wasn’t even the traffic and security concerns to be honest.
