Suicide Squad Isekai takes the well-known DC franchise, which has been working very hard to reignite DC’s so-so reputation over the last decade, and places them in a new land filled with fantastical creatures, dangerous beasts, and magic. Warner Bros. Japan has teamed up with Wit Studio (Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga) to drag the anti-heroes of the DC world into a fantastical realm, merging the superhero genre with anime’s isekai genre.

Kaiju No. 8 season 1 finished strong with an epic battle between one of the strongest members of the Defence Force and a berserker Kaiju No. 8. Kafka finally managed to regain control of his kaiju body before landing a fatal blow on the Director. He redirected the attack at himself, damaging his kaiju core and passing out. Quick to jump in was a masked figure sporting a rather ginormous and sharp blade that was aimed right at the unconscious Kafka. The figure was halted by Shinomiya who ordered him to drop his weapon.

Kaiju No. 8 is one of the more recent in a long line of shonen manga to be adapted into anime. The first season introduced us to Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old who, despite having attempted to join the Anti-Kaiju Defense Force, had failed every attempt so far. While his former childhood friend Mina Ashiro was now the poster child for the Defense Force and one of its most powerful combatants, Kafka was left on monster clean-up duty. That is, until a run-in with a kaiju allows him to transform into one himself.

Kaiju No. 8 roared onto our screens on April 13 bringing with it huge monsters, monster killers, and a monster killer who is also kind of a monster. There have been 22 arcs so far, from the opening Macao arc, which introduced us the the world and main characters, to the Alvarez arc which saw the mages of Fairy Tail finally take on the great villain, Acnologia.
